Do you LOVE America?

This week relocation expert Joel Skousen delves into the Pacific Northwest and outlines one of the top retreat destinations in America. For all its benefits, however, it does have some drawbacks, and Skousen brings those to light as well. In the end, whether you are looking to relocate in the Pacific Northwest, Pacific Southwest, Northeast, Middle America, or in the Southeastern part of the United States, Skousen makes it clear what you should be looking for. You’ll need an area rich in resources, a homestead that is outside of major population density zones as well as the thoroughfares they follow, and a property that is defensible in the event of a major calamity.

As always, though Joel’s focus may be on one specific area of the United States in this particular briefing, the insights into how you should approach your own Strategic Relocation property apply across the board and no one provides a better method of analysis and examination than the guy who literally wrote the book on the subject.

Finding the right balance between government regulations, gun ownership, resource availability, geography, proximity to cities and overall safety are all important considerations to make.

At times this can be a daunting task. If you’ve got questions or require any assistance, the team at Survival Retreat Consulting can help. Start your search for that perfect home or retreat at Strategic Relocation with their easy-to-use search tools and ratings system to help you make a better informed decision.

Weekly Strategic Relocation Briefing – The Oregon Cascades
    By Joel Skousen
Author, Strategic Relocation and The Secure Home

I grew up in Oregon and raised my family in the Cascades, so I know this area very well. I’ve always been active in the outdoors and Oregon state parks are numerous, well kept, and beautifully situated in both the Cascade Mountains and on the Oregon coast.  The Oregon coastline is a wonderful mix of jagged rocks, cliffs, trees, and periodic fine sandy beaches with driftwood.  The forestation in Western Oregon, which includes the Cascades, is a wonderful mix of firs, pines and deciduous trees.  Water is abundant and pure, except in the major metros where it is chlorinated and often fluoridated.

Oregon is a breathtakingly beautiful state with somewhat better weather than Washington State. It has a Pacific West Coast maritime climate with mild temperatures and steady breezes west of the Cascades, with few major thunderstorms. But, you have to be prepared for 9-10 months of cloudy wet weather in the west, and periodic rain even in the summer—the price you pay for all that greenery.  But this rain is often drained from the clouds as it passes over first the Coast Range and then the Cascade Range east of Portland.  That leaves it a lot drier and more sunny East of the Cascades from June through September.

Oregon would be perhaps the best state in the country for preparedness and survival if it hadn’t been taken over by liberal/left environmentalists with a passion for controlling private property.  A lot of these liberals moved up from California where government control is the norm.  Ever since Oregon adopted a statewide uniform land use planning law, individual counties lost the liberty to make reasonable development decisions at the local level. Oregon was the original perpetrator of “Smart Growth” and its statewiderestrictive land use planning system imposed on local communities is the worst in the nation.  Small building parcels can only be had in the restrictive Urban Growth Boundaries, which restricts supply and raises prices. When the citizens finally had enough and passed an initiative to allow aggrieved property owners to gain compensation for lost of property development rights, the liberal/Left courts overturned it—just like California judges did on many citizen initiatives.

Still, private land availability is good outside the congested Portland area.  It’s just that outside the Urban Growth boundary you have to buy more acreage than you need to be able to build. Building permits are required everywhere and that is dictated statewide as well. But on the plus side, basements are possible almost everywhere.  The soil is rich and the rainfall is good for growing most crops, although irrigation is needed east of the cascades, where the better weather is found.

Oregon has been at the forefront of many of the excessive land and environmental controls in the country—from demands to destroy all hydroelectric dams to save the fish, to almost total strangulation of the logging industry to save the spotted owls.  The propaganda machine emanating from the single Leftist newspaper in Portland (the Oregonian) broadcasts its tainted opinions throughout the state, followed in lock-step by the major television stations.  All of the universities are extremely liberal and continue to churn out advocates for state power.

That said, Oregon is a state of many contradictions.  One would never know by listening to the media that almost half of Oregonians are very conservative—but they are a disenfranchised by the Left/liberal majorities in the Portland area, just like Seattle liberals control Washington State. Oregon has become a socialist state similar to, but not quite as bad as California, with severe budget problems, overly generous state worker pensions, and numerous welfare programs.

But for all this control, Oregon still requires no safety inspections of vehicles (a good thing), and it has no greater accident rate because of it. Then again, Oregon doesn’t consider it safe to let individuals pump their own gas at service stations. Once the safety excuse was debunked by the experience of the rest of the nation, the cry became one of “preserving jobs”—no matter how unnecessary.  Car registration is every two years and has no property tax component—just one reasonable fee.  Oregon has no state sales tax—a good thing, though state officials keep trying to convince voters to change that every few years. It does have a higher state income tax as a result.

There are no major nuclear threats in Oregon, especially in and around the urban areas—only a couple of secondary or tertiary targets in the East.  The Backscatter Radar site in Central Oregon will be hit with something, but not necessarily nuclear. It’s so remote in location that it isn’t a threat in any case.  In southern Oregon, there is Kingsley Field ANG Base, in Klamath Falls, an F-15C training base—a secondary target. What this means is that Oregon has one of the few coastal areas with no nuclear threats and where a person doesn’t even have to prepare for heavy fallout.  But the coastal areas are very wet and cloudy, have few jobs and they are somewhat trapped between the higher populations of the Willamette agricultural valley and the ocean.  For this and other reasons, I chose to live in the Cascades.

There are, however, several major volcanoes embedded within the Cascade Range that will someday erupt, like Mt. St. Helens (which erupted in 1980), Mt Hood, and Mt. Bachelor.  I got to experience the eruption of Mount St. Helens first hand.  Although the volcano is in SW Washington and most of the massive plume of ash went to the NE into eastern Washington State, on occasion, the wind would blow from the NW and would give us a problem in the Columbia Gorge area along the Columbia River which forms the northern Oregon border.

For safe areas in the Cascades, I’ll start from the north.  After an extensive search I finally chose the Hood River Valley to settle down in and raise a family. It is a wonderful area on the Columbia Gorge about an hour from Portland.  It is just to the East of the transition line between the wet and dry areas of Oregon, and there is a steady flow of coastal air moving inland through the gorge.  It’s now the Wind Surfing Capital of the World. This e former sleepy orchard valley has now become trendy and upscale in price.  So, while the lower valley is now pretty expensive, I recommend property only in the mid to upper valley centered around Odell and Parkdale—which still have prime forest and agricultural retreat properties.  Hwy 35 gives you a back door over Mt Hood and into Eastern Oregon should the Gorge route (I-84) become closed, as it sometimes is in winter.

A few hundred people even commute to Portland from here, but for those that need to be close to the Portland area for work, the western slopes of the Cascades have a lot of suitable retreat areas.  Check out the small towns of Sandy, Estacada, and Molalla.  They get more rain there and are closer to urban unrest that may break out in Portland, but still if you follow my specific criteria in Strategic Relocation about siting a house off the beaten path and away from even secondary roads, most trouble will bypass you at this distance away from the city.

In Central Oregon, the most famous of the relocation and resort destinations is Bend and nearby Redmond. A lot of Californians have migrated north to these areas which have driven up real estate prices—taking away much of the earlier draw to the area for preppers. While I like the mix of the drier Pine forests and ranch country this area provides, both cities are directly East of Mt. Bachelor and the Three Sisters volcanoes respectively which puts them at high risk for heavy ash fall should these mountains erupt.  You can survive the ash fall, and it turns out to be beneficial in the long term for the soil, but it’s a real mess to deal with when it happens.  The town of La Pine to the south of Bend is slightly less vulnerable to the volcano threat if you want to be on the east side. There are also some nice spots on the western side of the Cascades, although you are vulnerable to the populations of Eugene.  Check out the towns of Dexter and Lowell on Hwy 58 heading into the mountains.

In Southwestern Oregon, you have the Umpqua River Valley. This is the valley that extends east from Roseburg towards glide along Hwy 138.  There is also a more remote tributary further south at Canyonville that goes up toward the Cascades through Day’s Creek. Or, for more farm country in the valley, check out Umqua and Elkton areas east of Roseburg–great growing season.  Housing is much cheaper than in northern Oregon locations.

Southern Oregon: Further south in the Cascades is the traditional retreat area along the Rogue River made famous by Mel Tappan—the land surrounding Grants Pass and Medford.  It is no longer so highly rated due to charges of corruption in the Douglas County Sheriff’s office and the influx of thousands of California transplants bringing with them many of their liberal ideas and biases.   This is the home of the beautiful Rogue River Valley, which is located away from the freeway cities and offers great retreat sites on the river.  It’s best to go east at a minimum to White City or Eagle Point.

I much prefer the areas more distant from the freeway corridor—Cave Junction to the West, and Klamath Falls area to the east, particularly the mountain country between Medford and Klamath Falls. The Klamath area has good water supplies and good soil with a decent growing season—but it is more remote.

In summary, despite Oregon’s Left/liberal ways, it still has some of the best geography and mild weather for retreats and full time residences in relatively safe areas.  But, we have to keep in mind that virtually all states are gradually following that “progressive” direction, so it’s not as if it can be avoided entirely in any state.

    ***

Survival Retreat Consulting: Oregon is a favorite of ours, for many reasons and may be a great choice for you as well. Why? The bottom line is that during a major event that may push us into a socio-economic collapse, or worse, it will not matter what the laws are of that state, or any other. Especially in a nuclear first strike scenario, Oregon is a great place to be.

One area that both Joel Skousen and myself work heavily on with consulting clients is the choice of locale. There are many times when we have to calm a client down and talk about the balance between realistic preparedness and a doomsday scenario. I always try and convey to the client that the best property to buy is one that that they would be happy to have made memories at over the past twenty years if nothing happens, as well as a property that will be safe if the worst comes. This is a very hard balance. Some folks have children that need to be close to activities, others are empty nesters that want the ability to enjoy fine dining and a show but are within a reasonable distance back to the retreat.

Oregon is much better than California relative to gun laws. There is no assault weapons ban nor magazine size restriction.  Except in major cities, it’s an open carry state, with a “shall issue” mandate for approval of concealed weapons permits, unless the Sheriff has good reason to suspect a problem in your background.

Two sources of Water are important along with some type of sustainable Energy creation, followed by the ability to produce nutrient dense food every day of the year, regardless of weather is third. Once you have these first three criteria met, then it’s worth defending, Period. Oregon offers spectacular growing seasons in certain areas along with abundant water; the rest is up to you to create through alternative energy systems and greenhouses built for colder climates if you’re in the snow belt such as a Walipini. So, in Oregon, you can still purchase semi-auto magazine fed center fire rifles, so you can stockpile all you want, and when you here the news of the coming collapse, it won’t matter anyway what the laws are, you’ll be completely self sufficient at your new retreat and have something worth sacrificing for.

The bottom line is that everyone has unique needs and I have never met a client that was happy buying a retreat so far away from town that they had to use a snow machine to access it. This works for the first year and then they realize it was just too far out. Oregon offers spectacular “Local / Remote” retreat properties, all without the worry of a major nuclear attack and the fallout. Give Oregon a second look if you have already discounted it, and for those of you new to Strategic Relocation, review Oregon with an open mind (no pun intended) and you’ll be pleasantly surprised what you find.

      1. Excellent information!

I am not in this area, and it may be outside of my relocation zone, but still a great read. What it boils down to is that it IS possible no matter where you live in the continental USA to find something that works. Do the best that you can with what you’ve got available. I think in a previous briefing Skousen mentioned owner financed properties — we’ve been looking for one that has this option.

          • I dont pay an income tax.

I refuse to tithe to Satan’s helpers.

Even the newly freed slaves down south didn’t pay that shit.

            Free Men Or Death!

            • Here’s something that should make you say “hmmmmm?”

CIA now admits that President Obama is a radical Islamic enemy of America

              ht tp://www.examiner.com/article/cia-now-admits-that-president-obama-is-a-radical-islamic-enemy-of-america

As if we didn’t know that already…

              • A few things that Skousen did not mention about Oregon:

Oregon was the first US state to advance euthanasia.

Oregon has VERY high property taxes (and his Oregon property listings are missing the usual property tax estimate). If you own a 40 acre parcel (or 20 acres of orchards) you do get a proper tax break.

Oregon reallocates water “rights” every 10 years. If you do not use (or waste) your water, you lose your “rights.”

Unless things have changed, of all cities in Oregon, LaPine has the highest percentage of parolees.

While Oregon presently is a “shall issue” state and Oregon presently allows Title II NFA weapons, gun “rights” in Oregon hang by a demographic thread.

Oregon is very beautiful. In my estimation the Hood River region is the second most beautiful area in the continental USA, second only to Oak Creek Canyon in Arizona. Surprisingly, Skousen did not mention the Rogue River Valley, its beauty, its water, or its fertility.

All things considered, the Californication of Oregon makes Oregon a non-starter for preppers.

                • Good information John Q. Public…

I like the “italics”. Rights that the state has assumed they can make a privilege out of.

                  • Appealing to the “lowest common denominator” appears to be popular… and profitable.

Land of the Free, home of the “American Idiot!”

If you need someone to tell you what to do, and where to go, why don’t you just get a bridge card and let the “State” tell you where to go, and what to do!!

You people (some of you) make me SICK!!!

                • John Q. Public says:

“second only to Oak Creek Canyon in Arizona.”

Really??? When was the last time you passed through Highway 89A?

“Oak Creek Canyon” is a ruin. It’s waters are plagued with e. coli, and illegal immigrant baby diapers/waste are EVERYWHERE!

Do you know what you’re talking about? Or do you just review Conde Nast Traveler and regurgitate the text???

                  • My mother was right! …and while parts of Oak Creek Canyon have reportedly been impacted by illegals, as of a recent 4-wheeling trip there, everything we saw in that locale is still quite beautiful, the best I have seen in the USA.

You are free to have another opinion, grouchy or otherwise.

          • These are beautiful locations, but still there has been a lot of volcanic activity in the past from Mt. Lassen in northern California to the the Cascades. There are several volcanoes in this region capable of something in the level of a VEI of 6 to 7. This would be something like Mt Pinatubo to Mt. Tambora that caused the little ice ag back in the early 19th century.

Something I don’t like about Oregon is the Californianism that is infecting it. Big brother is getting strong there as you can ask people about how they are trying to GPS monitor how many miles your car travels to tax you to death for it along with knowing where you are at all times. Washington seems freer, but I know people there that complain about self defense laws becoming more and more favored towards the criminal.

What sucks is that the really nice scenary type places with excellent survival needs available seem to be the places that are killing personal freedom, especially self defense. Ask New Zealanders about just how wonderful the weather and climate is and how the government, Commonwealth of jolly old intense gun hating england, restricts firearms horribly. Something to think about is being able to defend yourself and the laws that try to prevent this. Not just against humans, but wildlife and wild animals period.

Arizona is rated as the most gun friendly state that there is, even slightly higher than Wyoming. For example Arizona gets a 9.3 out of 10 and New Zealand gets a 2.0 out of 10. Politician toilet hell hole District of Columbia also gets a 2.0 out of 10. Not too many countries get over a 4 out of 10 as the whole world seems to be trying to disarm people from protecting themselves. True nightmares like North Korea and Cuba where gun control is necessary to enslave the population either get a .5 or 0 out of 10. Take away the people’s self protection and your tyrants have ultimate control. Sorry for the rant, but I hate these places that empower the criminal.

            • There are many other considerations more important than guns. People, climate, price of land, etc.
Australia is also famous for restricting guns BUT you still can own a coach gun (dbl. 12 ga) and center fire lever actions like .308 Browning. Either will suffice for any reasonable threat. AR’s are only necessary for mall ninjas. Learn how to hit what you aim at instead of just making noise.
NZ is a preppers paradise in most ways although land prices are very high. Want to survive a world war? The south island of NZ is the place to do it.

              • Here is some more reading about the situation in Oregon government…a major portion of our judiciary is gay. As a result, gay marriage is legal in Oregon, the ban being overturned by one of Oregon’s gay judges. The rights of heterosexuals in Oregon is “iffy”.

                https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_J._McShane

They even have their own BAR ASSOCIATION, for crying out loud.

                http://www.ogalla.org/

              • Without life, there is no freedom.

If you are denied the means to protect your life and your freedom, you are a slave living on borrowed time.

            • “What sucks is that the really nice scenary type places with excellent survival needs available seem to be the places that are killing personal freedom”

Well, yes. Liberals support Agenda 21 as a rule, so they are literally taking over all of the best living spaces for themselves, pushing the rest of us into the hell holes with little or no resources. The first stage of that takeover, is to make the laws as “liberal friendly’ as possible, which makes those place inhospitable for us.

Anyone who thinks this is not intentional, should think again. It’s not only happening in Oregon.

Anyone who has researched Mormon history, doesn’t need to think too hard to see why Mormons were pushed out of green, well-resourced Illinois, but they finally “allowed” them to settle in the salt flats and deserts of Utah…but the Federal govt couldn’t leave them alone, not even there.

Expect to see this trend of liberals taking over the most resource-rich spots in the future, beginning with a remake of the local governments.

              • @ sixpack. 🙁 🙁 🙁 Isn’t it awful how those that want the simplest of needs, freedom and to be left alone by the government can’t even have this? Even the hermit that leaves everyone alone and harms nothing is considered breaking the law by being a vagrant. Making it a crime to be living off the land. Some right given to animals and bugs but not humans???????????????? They wonder why so many people are totally fed up with “authority” shovelling a constant supply of manure on EVERYONE.

                • AMEN, BI. Amen.

              • If citizens of states that have not yet degenerated into Liberalism can get their stuff together, and amend their state’s constitution to allow state expenditures ONLY for services rendered, the parasites will be far less likely to relocate there, or to procreate like jackrabbits if they are already there. You just cannot attract parasites and then complain when they overrun you with their insanity.

        • @ Anonymous

sorry I am new to real estate stuff in general. does “owner financed properties” mean you pay financing directly to the owner? (no mortgage company, etc…) how do you find such listing in the USA?

          • Geralt: Owner financed properties do not have a published market or market segment. Owner financing is ALWAYS an option for a buyer, as he can always inquire of the owner’s agent whether the owner will consider carrying back a note and mortgage or whether the seller requires the buyer to obtain new financing to cash out his position and release his equity.

Mortgages are sometimes assumable. If you are new to the real estate game then be sure to engage an experienced agent, usually a broker, to represent you. She will be able to outline your options. Make sure they have professional Errors & Omissions Insurance so you can sue them if they screw up.

Raw land is often sold with owner financing, more often than not on a “land contract” which can be rolled up if you miss a single payment. Foreclosure on a note and mortgage usually takes six months. Educate your self. Do your homework.

Know what you are getting yourself into before you do. 🙂

            • Amen DK, with anything, do your ‘due diligence…’

              • Yes this is an old one, but it sure makes sense…
Everyone needs a good laugh, even when it hurts ourselves….

This is what makes the government go round??????

Washington, DC, airport ticket agent offers some examples of why our country is in trouble!

                1. I had a New Hampshire Congresswoman ask for an aisle seat so that her hair wouldn’t get messed up by being near the window. (On an airplane!)

                2. I got a call from a candidate’s staffer, who wanted to go to Capetown. I started to Explain the length of the flight and the passport information, then she interrupted me with, “I’m not trying to m ake you
look stupid, but Capetown is in Massachusetts.” Without trying to make her look stupid, I calmly explained, “Cape Cod is in Massachusetts, Capetown is in Africa.”Her response – click.

3.A senior Vermont Congressman called, furious about a Florida package we did. I asked what was wrong with the vacation in Orlando. He said he was expecting an ocean-view room. I tried to explain that’s not
possible, since Orlando is in the middle of the state. He replied, “Don’t lie to me, I looked on the map and Florida is a very thin state!”(OMG)

                4. I got a call from a lawmaker’s wife who asked, “Is it possible to see England from Canada?” I said, “No.” She said, “But they look so close on the map.” (OMG, again!)

                5. An aide for a cabinet member once called and asked if he could rent a car in Dallas. When I pulled up the reservation, I noticed he had only a 1-hour layover in Dallas. When I asked him why he wanted to rent a car,
he said, “I heard Dallas was a big airport, and we will need a car to drive between gates to save time.” (Aghhhh)

                6. An Illinois Congresswoman called last week. She needed to know how it was possible that her flight from Detroit left at 8:30 am got to Chicago at 8:33 am. I explained that Michigan was an hour ahead of
Illinois, but she couldn’t understand the concept of time zones. Finally, I told her the plane went fast, and she bought that.

                7. A New York lawmaker called and asked, “Do airlines put your physical
description on your bag so they know whose luggage belongs to whom?” I said, “No, why do you ask?” She replied, “Well, when I checked in with the airline, they put a tag on my luggage that said (FAT), and I’m
overweight. I t hink that’ s very rude!” After putting her on hold for a minute while I looked into it (I was laughing). I came back and explained the city code for Fresno, CA is (FAT – Fresno Air Terminal), and the airline was just putting a destination tag on her luggage.

                8. A Senator’s aide called to inquire about a trip package to Hawaii. After going over all the cost info, she asked, “Would it be cheaper to fly to California, and then take the train to Hawaii?”

                9. I just got off the phone with a freshman Congressman who asked, “How do I know which plane to get on?” I asked him what exactly he meant, to which he replied, “I was told my flight number is 823, but none of these plane s have numbers on them.”

                10. A lady Senator called and said, “I need to fly to Pepsi-Cola, Florida. Do I have to get on one of those little computer planes?” I asked if she meant fly to Pensacola, Fl. on a commuter plane.. She
                said, “Yeah, whatever, smarty!”

                11. A senior Senator called and had a question about the documents he needed in order to fly to China. After a lengthy discussion about passports, I reminded him that he needed a visa. “Oh, no I don’t. I’ve
been to China many times and never had to have one of those.” I double checked and sure enough, his stay required a visa. When I told him this
he said, “Look, I ‘ve been to China four times and every time they have accepted my American Express!”
                2. A New Mexico Congress woman called to make reservations, “I want to go from Chicago to Rhino, New York .” I was at a loss for words.
Finally, I said, “Are you sure that’s the name of the town?” “Yes, what flights do you have?” replied the lady. After some searching, I came
back with, “I’m sorry, ma’am, I’ve looked up every airport code in the country and can’t find a Rhino anywhere.”The lady retorted, “Oh, don’t be silly! Everyone knows where it is. Check your map!”
So I scoured a map of the state of New York and finally offered, “You
don’t mean Buffalo, do you?” The reply? “Whatever! I knew it was a big animal.
“Now you know why the Government is in the shape that it’s in!

            • Indeed, DK is correct.

Beware of “contract of sale” purchases.

          • FSBO and FBO properties are rather common. Do have your attorney review the contract and even do the title closing. You can eliminate the need for a broker or agent, and their percentage fees, by using an attorney instead.

          • If your looking for a short list of confidential sellers that may owner finance a retreat property, just drop us a line. Durango Kid is correct, if you have enough cash or tangibles, many Sellers will consider carrying a short term note. Be ware, I said “enough” cash. This normally means over 30 % of the purchase price. Good credit is not necessarily needed, just enough equity and the ability to pay. Justus yourself in the Sellers place. Todd with SRC

        • Sounds ideal except for the fact that my family lives on the east coast…plus, there’s Fukushima.

        • I don’t know where you are but there are some counties in Central KY that are unrestricted, meaning, you don’t need permits for everything and this company sells that way, they have several different offices, here is a link to one…good luck!

      2. Grafique here.
Mac doesn’t want me here. All my posts go to moderation or else get deleted altogether. I tried changing my name and email. It worked for a day or two, then I was right back in moderation.

I won’t hang around trying to game his system, so I’m gone.

Instead of a free-speech forum here, I found censorship by Mac.

It’ll happen to all of you too who happen to say things he doesn’t like.

        • Been there, done that.

That is why I do not post very often.

It is hard to be part of the discussion/community when you are always going through moderation. I left a while back, but missed the articles. So now I post with the knowledge that I will always go through moderation and never have any type of “real time” interaction on this site.

Sometimes less is more. I don’t know if this is one of them.

        • Sorry to see you go, G. We will hope to see you later. Take a break and rethink.
It seems my bol has these 3, and more, and I love the place, but for the right price, others can be found and better. I guess I am saying there is NO perfect bol….

          • Grafique, I wish you would reconsider. I enjoyed your posts while you were here. Mac is really NOT what you think he is. Take care.

        • Yeah he should let to votes decide

        • Diverse opinion are healthy and should not be censored in a community where diverse opinions are valued…none of us have the absolute correct perspectives. If this is occurring G…I hope the people here will rally to your side and the position of free speech for all.

        • This site may lose my interest, if Grafique who I usually agree with leaves, and Acid Etch who I almost never agree with has be banned, Ass’ed Itch where are you, seems my Southern accent is breaking out! Trekker Out.

          • MT,though I recommended the Millwaukee 18 volt kit due to better cut times ect and seemed toughest I have used so far, my friend has the Rigid(home depot brand)18 volt kit that he seems to like and they in theory have a lifetime warranty including batteries, what is involved to use this warranty do not know, and, given way things are going may not matter! That said, either way,if not owned already get a good bit brace and drill bits/drivers for it,they also work great and have no battery/power chord!

            • Warchild, the bit brace and drill bits/drivers are a must for a prepper, but I do need to get a battery driven drill. A friend just helped me build a large deck on my house and I have a electric drill, but his cordless was just so much more handy. And as I said in my past comment, if and when the SHTF a cordless with a couple of charged batts would be nice to board up your windows when the power goes out. And batts could be solar charged. Looking for the best bang for the buck, but do want a quality drill. Will check out the Rigid also. Thanks for the info. Trekker Out.

        • You’ll be back. Why? Because good discussions happen here. A site owner always has the ability to keep his own house. Free speech is not protected anywhere, any more. I suggest you start your own site and see what kind of crowd comes to your door…

          • Free speech is protected though Town, you just move on,tis why the msm’s dying for viewership, will happen with all sources of information when folks feel censored. That said,as a firm believer in private property run your business/site ect. as you want to.

        • make sure you have an email addy available when you post and it will go right through.

          • Not in my case.

            Not in Grafique’s case either.

            • Not in my case either.

          • Graf, with some of the posts I read here find it hard to believe you have been outed off forum,if true, keep in mind plenty of other good sites.Do not stop sharing info. with other folks, times getting too treacherous! You do leave best of luck with whatever you do,we start having some sort of forum purge others will follow, take care Grafique!

          • Grafique is a Jew shill. Just posting religious crap claiming he is the chosen one is brainwashed dung. I have already disproved all his claims.. Graf does not like facts or the truth. The Jew Tribe is destroying this country. From the gun ban bs to the bankster fed debt slave ripoffs. To the wars and hate they spew through their tribe MSM. Anybody who supports a jew shill is not deserving of any freedoms. We need to rid our country of these parasites.

            • I cannot believe anyone allows you to say anything anywhere.

        • Bye Grafique–I will miss your info and continued witness for the Lord. May He bless you and keep you for His very own.

        • Mr. Smith or Grafique or formerly Grafique…

You need to realize that every time you change your handle to a new one, it will be moderated for a time.

It has nothing to do with your message.

        • @ Grafique

Sorry to see you and our spirited discussions go. You should reconsider.

These days even preppers and gunnies have become so P.C. that they are conflict averse—one measure of how feminized the US male has become—even gunnies and preppers are fearful of spirited disagreement.

I’d wager that the censorship here (and the continued absence of a forum) has much to do with the almighty shekel.

        • Let’s face the facts Grafique… your postings are such rambling, inane BS, Mac is doing everyone a favor by keeping the area clear of your nonsense.

        • Considering the generally poor content of your posts, graphic, I can certainly understand why this keeps happening to you… because it’s deserved. Don’t go away mad, just go *away…*

          • how will we know if we will miss him, if he won’t GO AWAY? I’ve seen a LOT of pure horseshit on here, because mac is VERY lenient, if you ask ME(and yuh didn’t)…if you are being censored, I betcha mac has a VERY GOOD REASON for it. thanks mac, for trying to keep GOOD CONTENT on here!

        • Graphique Mr Smith is pulling the classic Jew Poor me, I’m a Victim, I’m getting kicked off the site BS. Next thing you will see is Graphicque claiming he is a SHTFPLAN Holocaust Victim and be asking for donations through his PayPale Acct, so he can forward to money to his Cabal Genocide Murder team in Israel which he was proudly quoting about a month ago.

The Jew Murder Team in Israel is another classic Jew Tactic, who claims they are victims as they proudly Murder 300 children in Gaza in a week, then then claim the Jews are the victims. Like what other tribe sect in the entire world can try and get away with that line if BS.

Don’t be gullible or fooled by the Jew Shill again trying to dupe you in feeling sorry for him as he will gladly stab you in the back the first chance he gets to promote and further his Cabal Manifsto.

Wake up Eppe, Renegade, Mt Trekker and the rest, you are being duped by a class Jew Shill tactic of playing the victim. He is just feeling you all out to see who he can scam further, just like in Affinity Fraud Cases. Look it up. Scamming by association under the cloak.

      3. As soon as I read this,

“Oregon would be perhaps the best state in the country for preparedness and survival if it hadn’t been taken over by liberal/left environmentalists with a passion for controlling private property”,

there was no point in even reading or considering anything that had to do with OR!

        Really a shame!

        • YUP,
i grew up in Oregon and left there because ALL the California JERKS moved up there and ruined it! prices thru the roof and there attitudes SUCKED !!! and now it is worse than when i left 20 years ago!

          • me too, apache!

          • yes apache54, just like Colorado is being over run with the califorians and electing libiberals who are trying to run the state. get out of coloradosoon or you won’t be able to get out !

        • @ C_W_R,

Ya, the same here…I did in fact read through the article in it’s entirety but that ONE POINT is a mandatory fail in my book. Aggregations of THEM are to be avoided wherever possible, in my book. Perhaps that wold be due to the high probability of ‘smiting’ occurrng during the upcoming, sheduled-regualrly-by Mother-Nature/Deity reckoning just around the corner…ambe something unrelated…I dunno.

Seriously though, any relatively large groupings of those shold be avoided like the PLAGUE…since proximatley that is what that miondset – effectively – becomes. One could also view that in the light of a cancerous manifestation – easily – as they DO orginate from US; corrupted tissue and all that. Anyhow,I suppose you all will have to make your own choice there individually; six of one, half a dozen of the other. However, the author did NOTE that the infection/ metastaatis DID originate in Kali then SPREAD to Oregon soooo I guess that leans more in the direction of mestastasis since we are all still – for a time – considering the coutry (at this point) – to still be ‘one big happy family’ of Citizens.

          Thus, point ‘well-taken’.

          • Oops, sorry Typos…TIRED!

        • UK POV only.

I dunno the greenies tend to support some initiatives that are helpful to preppers here in the UK. I’m now in a part of the UK that has quite a strong environmentalist lobby – some of the campaigns they’ve thrown their weight behind include

1/ No compulsory registration or monitoring of the standards (or national curriculum equates to your common core!) of homeschoolers. They proved to be a formidable opponent during the whole Badman debate and the local politicians will think twice for a decade or two before trying again.

2/ No fracking on decent agricultural land. (the UK is too tiny & too import dependant to be destroying the little farming land it still has!)

3/ The right to build properties that are unusual such as hobbit homes/solar/straw bale etc so long as sthey meet “green” credentials. Expansion of the areas where wood burning stoves are allowed.

4/ Family & parental rights over those of the state in how we raise our kids.

Now obviously I disagree with a lot of their policies but Knowing that I live in a homeschool friendly region means a lot to me, given the abuses of the state in some areas and the prevalence of the state child snatchers.

If the dog catches a few rabbits I just don’t shout about it. Thankfully there are enough old school country types around to counter the PETA types gaining a stronghold anytime soon and the desire for self suffiency within the green movement itself means wild food is always gonna be preserved over Monsanto.

I don’t think our green movement has quite the authoritarian obsession that the US one does. Rather they can be very strong defenders of the very few freedoms remaining here in the UK.

An interesting point to note is that the final part of the Lisbon treaty is implemented on November 1st. After that we’ll legally be a vassal state of the great and glorious EU project and yet the population remains in a trance. NO MSM news time has been devoted to this at all! Given how anti-EU the average man in the street is, there will be fireworks when the extent of this betrayal is realised and no amount of immigrants will be enough to dampen the working class fires of fury.

          • Good Morning M’am,

“I don’t think our green movement has quite the authoritarian obsession that the US one does. Rather they can be very strong defenders of the very few freedoms remaining here in the UK.”

The defence of Natural Freedoms is always a good thing, Totalinrianism always a BAD one. Lately, here, the Nazi’s are everywhere. We are wiftly ariving at the time when the polarization of humanity will be completed and we will plainly divided into diametrically opposing campos of thought. IF there i a single good measure of WHEN the SHTF will likely occur I’m inlcined to believe that will be it since from a metphysical perspective all mut have made that ladt – likely final decision – before the Reckoning can be manifest

“The Lisbon Treaty”? that appears to have flown under my RADAR; something else to reearch soon. Anything that they are at lengths to NOT publicize willi likely be BAD for for us all…if it is what I suspect then you will be in my prayers heneceforth.

However, in order for the Wheat to be seperated from the Chaff it is firt neccessary to SORT the mixture; each’s actions now will serve to illuminate the difference between the two types, surely. All is therefor proceeding to His intended completion, No?

Oh, and GLAD to hear that you have succeeded in getting your younger’s out of the clutches of the fools. Best of Luck, I don’t think we’ll have much longer to wait frankly…the primary division of the specie’s seems near to completion.

      4. No true Husky would ever relocate to Oregon.

      5. I keep drawing my attention back to movies like The Postman and really don’t see a lot of far distance traveling if the chytttt really hit the fan. Great to see a beautiful bounty like the upper northwest, but as a SoCal resident with a couple get away spots already plotted out, this is not a place I will find myself. Thanks….

      6. The USA states need to separate from the Liberal cesspool before anyone can be assured that the government will not enforce martial law on everyone.

Canada is a frigid feminist communist paradise and Mexico might have language barriers.

Americans you must stand up against the communist beast which has infiltrated your government since 1963.

      7. Does anyone one know of the best BOL location in the USA that has the fastest (fast overall){ internet connections? I know bug out locations or living remotely usually has limited internet options however I was just wondering what is the best.

        • Jawja…
Soon google will have wireless setup satellites everywhere, so, it will be a moot point one day….

        • Just so you know, the internet will be one of the first things to go in a major SHTF event. I’ll explain why:

Reason 1: The majority of the internet is still controlled by powerhouse providers in the US. The government also has, and has had since it’s inception, absolute control over the majority of the internet. It was built by DARPA to sustain communications in the event of a nuclear war. They may simple turn it of, for you and me, so that they have what they need to sustain power and control. This is the semi-benevolent scenario.

Reason 2: Control. Almost everyone is the US uses the internet for something. Some people use the internet for everything. Take away internet from your teenaged child and watch their WHOLE WORLD evaporate. Turn off the phones and the internet and watch the masses BEG for government to “fix” things…

Bottom line, the internet will be the first thing to go away during an event, just like cell phones and any other major infrastructure. Plan accordingly, go get our Amateur Radio License. Radio is about the only thing left on the planet that can not be shut down.

          • The Internet….or loss thereof, is one of my main barometers of determining when SHTF.

I believe that when TPTB determine that Internet communications are impeding their ability to implement their agenda, they will either cut it off completely or censor it to the point that no useful information will be available.

Strategic planning for any military operation involves the cutting off of communications. And you can bet that will happen.

About the only thing that will be available will be shortwave radio or any chatter you may pick up on CB or other such comm devices.

I figure when this happens, it means the balloon has gone up and it’s time to hunker down and get ready for the fireworks to begin.

            • For about $40 you can buy a handheld HAM Radio available through Amazon – Baofeng uv5r

              • I just ordered one of those radios. Thanks for the heads-up.

                • Someone red-thumbed me because I bought a radio.

                  How juvenile.

                  • It wasn’t me Walt, but hey! Thanks for the laugh. Welcome to SHTF Plan! 🙂

              • I got one…pfttt on the license

                • I’m with you…. The way I look at it, if the world as we know it came to an end, the last thing that will happen is someone from the FCC hunting me down for a hand held radio.

              • I just bought one of those UVr5s. I downloaded CHIRP, which is software for programming it. Now all I need is a few “proprietary” channels and I’m set.

I have a trunking digital scanner for listening purposes. I’m still working on learning to program the scanner.

I have an old 40 channel CB mobile radio and antenna. I have a Midland base camp xt511 emergency radio, to listen to any radio stations that might survive.

I’ve got a little of everything, except two soup cans and some string…and I’m considering that too.

                • Yes, programming trunking digital scanners is the rub!

The Uniden Homepatrol is already programmed out of the box and can listen to your area, whether chosen by zip code or GPS input. The Homepatrol will NOT unscramble the really important encrypted traffic (SWAT, military, and feds), but neither will your programming.

                  http://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-010860

                • Have you learned how to smoke signal yet?

                  • I know that if there’s smoke, something is burning.

                  • Sorry, Walt, I haven’t even learned how to smoke tobacco.

                    Do you enjoy smoking signal?

          • Radio license,no thanx, just get the gear and become familiar with it.

            • Right…I’m thinking if you have a ham license…or any other radio license, you will definitely be on a “list”, and can expect a visit from your friendly neighborhood apparatchik.

              • Exactly. Licenses are just an easy way to corral people onto lists. This is why I don’t have a concealed carry license. I don’t feel the need to carry on a daily basis and if the SHTF the license will become meaningless anyhow. All it will do is tell the local government stooge that I probably have guns/radios/etc. and should be raided.

                • When you have a government that is lawless, compliance with THEIR petty tyrannical lists of do’s and dont’s is just not my personal priority.

I will remain under the radar as much as possible, but in every way possible I intend to resist, refuse, defy, disobey and oppose their tyranny.

Screw this illegitimate criminal cartel that calls itself a government of the people.

              • It would be pretty screwed up for the thugs to come and confiscate my comm equipment, so I don’t plan on sending the govt an invitation, complete with name and address.

                • One should generally avoid putting oneself on radar, but consider a ham license carefully.

I’ll say it again, short-range, line-of-sight simplex chatter on VHF and UHF is as easy as pie, but HF is NOT. Even duplex VHF/UHF and weak signal VHF/UHF require a little bit of experience to get it right. When SHTF do you really think it prudent to announce your position with 50 or 100 watts?

_IF_ it is important to you to obtain and/or provide first-hand news regionally, nationally, or internationally in a SHTF situation, you need HF (high frequency) gear, knowledge, and PRACTICE. If you don’t practice “DXing” (long distance communication), you won’t be able to pick up weak HF signals out of the noise floor.

Without a ham license, you won’t be able to get that PRACTICE. To my thinking, buying an HF-capable radio and remaining unlicensed and unpracticed is like buying a precision rifle, not sighting it in, and fantasizing that you are ready for effective XLR (eXtreme Long Range) shooting.

Both of the articles I linked above mention the rule-submissive tendencies of some hams. There are many great people in the ham community, but be sure that there are some who will rat you out in a picosecond. Be wise.

                  • Perhaps I’ve confused some people with my posts. I could understand how TPTB would want to find and obliterate a command post that was commanding/monitoring troop movements and coordinating various missions against them. I would want to take out such a post, if I was in command of the opposition.

But I wasn’t intending to do anything of that sort. I don’t really think that TPTB would place a few people, talking amongst themselves about day-to-day interests, at the top of their “hit list”.

My comms are focused on knowing what is going on in my area, and maybe emergency assistance broadcasts, and info relays to the hinterlands.

There is no “Tokyo Rose” here, but we all should remember the power of all of the “faceless shadows” in WWII, who scattered around their areas, keeping each other updated on events. They were often relied upon to get crucial messages through, without being intercepted by the enemy…

                    The power of ONE.

                  • Precisely on target, Sixpack.

      8. I respect Mr. Skousen and his work greatly.

And while I can’t afford any of the places he has highlighted, I don’t begrudge those who can.

Part of my also feels that when the shtf it might be actually less problematic to hide in a city or even in a suburb, than in some wide-open part of God’s incredibly beautiful country.

In short, while Mr. Skousen’s incredible expertise and boundless knowledge is beyond invaluable, I can’t but help wonder if the evil people within our government have already begun to target these areas.

Percentages and probabilities just might, maybe, become more important than locations and beauty. I’m angry about that because no human being has the right to destroy any of this beauty, and no human being has the God-given right to TAKE human life, like ISIS is taking the lives of boys, girls, women, and men who are Christian. Will that in turn become those of us who have carefully planned to end up in the locations Mr. Skousen has carefully recommended?

In my humble analysis, Mr. Obama and many others around the world are preparing for the reign of the Antichrist (who will target Christians AND Jews). He says we have no strategy to deal with ISIS. What a load of bullshit. The strategy is obvious: to let ISIS continue to do its terror and slaughters. If I’m wrong, then he should be impeached for INCOMPETENCE!

But if you read the LATEST Message Jesus gave to Maria, God’s JUSTICE will SOON rain down on the evildoers:

“God’s Anger is real. Do you really believe He would allow Satan to destroy His children and sit back and watch?”

…”God’s punishment will be ten times that which is inflicted by wicked man upon his brothers and sisters.”

Get right with God no later than THIS WEEKEND, my friends, because soon, the world as we know it will change in so many, many ways.

        • I don’t see the West Coast or inside the Cascades as a viable option AT ALL. Earth Changes are happening. The Cascades will explode. They will be a death trap.

          Think again!!! 🙂

          • DK, I’ll be surprised if none of the west coast goes underwater when the big one finally hits them. I’m only an hour’s drive from the southern end of the New Madrid Fault Zone, but still have my plan to bugout to the relatives in GA. I’ll be further away and have a much better chance of survival there.

            • Brave, if we keep saying Jawja is the place to go, everybody will come here, got too many here already here, but you know what I mean….

            • Braveheart:

I live in Bend. Beautiful place. And if the coast drops in the ocean there is mountain ranges in between. Maybe ocean front property when it is all over?

We do have old volcano’s here; seems there is something wrong everywhere in the US if mother nature decides to even the score.

But until then, I am lucky to have landed here…..

              • You also have a really great beer in Mirror Pond.

                • Chytt..that was supposed to be a thumbs up..dammit

              • Me too. We have such a nice view of Mt Bachelor and Mt Jefferson. Would like to meet sometime.

              • Ahhhh… the Deschutes River country… beautiful and with such fine residents!!!

            • I doubt it… most of Georgia is BLACK… and we all know how you feel about people who Our Creator painted black, Renegade!

          • Absent tectonic upheaval, the NW is a good place to be.

No place on earth is safe from plate tectonics, you can’t plan around volcanoes and uplift. Our life spans are nothing compared to the intervals between events.

          • @ DK,

I concur. Sooner or later the Juan de Fuca will snap…I do not think I would want to be in that vicintiy when it does…especially any portion of the coastline thereof.

Someone, somewhere in my experience recently mentioned that some few thousand years ago there were/was apparently a vast disturbance along the west coast through to the Alaskan coast (inclusive of the the Gulf region) that laid down identifiable sedimentary depositis that managed to exceed the 350 foot mark above current tidal highs…perhaps that will suffice as expalnation here for a prudent skepticism therefor.

As far as a BOL strategy there are two distinct valid scenario’s which should be pondered closely, to my mind. the first is IF one could obtain to a truly secure, afforeable location that held all that was neccesary on a sustainable basis…which of course we would ALL do given that as a practical option. Sadly, the bagaries o finance and availablilty limit our choices oft-times.

The second situation is where one can obtain land adjacent to or near onto a vicinty which is currently not available to anyone due to governmental restrictionbs (at any level) with the stratgic intent to relocate INTIO that locale if SHTF. In that case one must needs consider the proximate ‘remoteness’ of the location at hand in the context of any potential refugee’s wishing to plant themeselves upon your doorstep. Ideally, IF you could obtain a remore parcel bordering a nearly unihavited region which was both fertile and difficult to access then EUREKA!

Pipe-dream Eh? Not so fast…look up Hyder, Alaska. Same sits at the head of the Portland canal…a 128 mile long estuary off the Pacific ocean (Gulf of Alaska) at the bottom of the IP, along whioh there are EXACTLY TWO human residences. What’s more is that that canal is both a gentle glacially formed fjord and simultaneuosuly the actual treaty desiganted boundary between the US and Canada; along the Canadian side it is virtually uninhabited while along the US side it is the ‘Misty Fjords National Monument’…so NO habitation allowed there., period.

If you elect to research that locale, also look up “Gran Duc Mine’ and ‘AnyOx’…VERY interesting places mearby…VERY.

          • I stopped reading after he said there were no major nuclear threats. Well, with Fukushima continuing to spew radioactive waste into the Pacific I would tend to disagree. Should It blow it’s top again, guess where the fallout will go?

          • Mr. Skousen failed to account for the fact that MOST of the Oregon Coast, is already labeled a “Tsunami hazard area” and the signs along most of the Coast, indicate where motorists are to go to avoid the tsunami threat. While parts of Oregon ARE beautiful and perhaps temperate in climate, they do not lend themselves well to the threats from the Cascadia Fault Zone or the volcanic threats from the (allegedly) dormant volcanoes in Oregon.

      11. Another great article. Idaho, Arizona, Maine, Missouri, Oregon… All great places that never would have appeared on my radar had not it been for these articles. Really gets me thinking. Thanks.

      12. With all these relocation articles (BOL), the way I see it is this. If you already have one get there very soon, if you are still thinking about one you’re too late to start. In all honesty maybe 1/10 0f 1% can truly bug out, and of those most will not make. IMHO stay where you’re at and make the best of it, because you are on your own.

        • Eventually…you have to get out of the city. But trying to move when everyone else has the same idea just doesn’t seem like a plan to me. Unless you have a BOL that you can reach with one tank of gas, you are going to have problems.

I’m thinking…try to “bug-in” until the masses have either died off from some plague, or killed each other off. THEN……IF you have survived thus far….move on out.

For instance…..the government apparatchiks themselves have said that in the event of an EMP (or other event) that takes down the grid, fully 90% of the population will be dead within the first year. The goal would appear to be….try not to be a part of that 90%. If you can make it that far, then you will have far less competition for available resources.

It would appear to me that a surefire way of being part of the 90% that don’t make it, is to be a part of the hordes that are attempting to flee to the rural areas. If you don’t get killed on the road by either military/law-enforcement, then the thugs will ambush you. And even if you survive that, where will you go? You are just as likely to get shot by the folks who are already there.

There’s a word to describe people who flee one location for another. They are called REFUGEES. Do a little research on what happens with refugee populations. This may well be why they are building these FEMA camps.

Want to end up in a FEMA camp? Then bug-out AFTER SHTF. If you do that…you’d better be very good at escape and evasion tactics. Which means you better be in good shape and capable of traveling very light with a minimum of gear.

Lots of people really haven’t thought this “bugging out” thing through very well.

      13. Something is going on with the site. My handle disappears every time I leave and come back on/make a comment. Sometimes my comments don’t even show up, just started this evening.

          • I thought it was just my computer. Freezeups, slowdowns, and all kinds of weird stuff. Haven’t had the cam issue, though.

        • Rat,if you like many have cookies blocked/delete immediately going to another site will have to reboot handle, just a thought as I severely limit cookies to best of ability.

          • I suggest using a locked down browser. I use Firefox with: Noscript, Adblock plus, and Better Privacy. Noscript stops Javascript unless you allow it through, and it deletes the temporary permissions you allow when you sign out of the browser. Adblock plus is a popup blocker, and Better Privacy eliminates “Supercookies”. I set that one up to delete every time I log out of Firefox, so that websites can’t track me session to session. Also, why would you have a webcam? You need to either unplug it physically from the computer or block it with a piece of electrical tape. Do the same to your microphone too. However, it is also important to note that every computer has a unique fingerprint based on what programs it has on it and their settings. Thus, it is still possible to be tracked even when all this stuff is blocked. The EFF has a website devoted to it called “Panopticlick”.

        • I have to keep putting mine back in too. It does not do that on other sites, just this one so I know it’s probably not my browser settings.

      14. POLLING QUESTION

        THUMBS UP = YES
        THUMBS DOWN = NO

        QUESTION
Do you believe you will survive the reset?

        • Not only survive, but thrive, been prepping way too long to roll over and give up. It is all in your mindset, adapt like Selco, and make the best of what you got and know…

          • Yep, Eppe,

The Lord says there is a remnant left. Hope we are amongst them.

            • I’m going to try my best to be sure we make it through.

              • POG & 6, we will prevail, and prosper, since we know where this is going, so buckle up and enjoy the ride….

            • eppe, POG, et al,

Those who will survive already know who they are; you KNOW this…He sends the Spirit to TELL you what to do…DAILY, does he not? He is NOT preparing those who will NOT remain, thus they are not frightened unneccessarily….

        • Nope, most likely die of a gunshot wound or an asthma attack

        • talon1776

The biggest advantage is while others are running around screaming and shouting, we are executing our plan to survive. We have a good idea of how people will react in a “Me First” environment. The first 90 days will thin the herd and take the fight out of many if not prepared.

          • Warchild will survive, but only short term(excluding nuke/planet killing comet ect.),will see things happening just won’t let slide and will take a few evil doers to the rock in hell with me.

            • I always say, if ya gotta go, take some company along…

          • To paraphrase a quote, “No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy”.

Applied to surviving SHTF……no matter how much you prepare, you are going to need a lot of just plain old fashioned luck.

And I think Selco would be the first to agree with that.

There are some situations that may simply defy all planning, thought or execution. You may just have a very bad day (i.e. fatal) and there is not a darn thing you could have done to avoid it.

Face it……if equipment, training, planning, skills, abilities and physical conditioning were any guarantee….our special forces people would never suffer a fatality or even so much as a scratch.

        • For talon1776
It will only be by the Grace of God and His Will that I would survive this. If I do, my hope is that there would be a clear purpose forthcoming.
If I do not survive the reset..it will not be because I cowered from the boogie man. I like this statement on FEAR from BJ

Fear = Forget Everything And Run

          OR

Fear = Face Everything And Rise

Talon1776 will lay it all on the line and hopes God will help him

        • Maybe. It all depends on what the reset is. I don’t have access to a bug out location so I am stuck in a formerly working class suburban neighborhood that is rapidly turning to section eight housing filled with pillheads. I have a long term strategy for moving forward with my life and getting out of here, but it will take a few more years to complete and I am afraid time will run out before then. So, if the reset involves a lot of fighting I likely won’t survive. If it is far more peaceful then I probably will. If it involves the Antichrist’s ascent to power then I won’t submit and will be executed if captured.

      15. The Oregon coast and the marine life in those waters may be starting to suffer the consequences of the mass radiation release from Fukushima. The Fukushima event has unfortunately resulted in radiation issues all along our west coast, and seems to be causing the decimation of the area’s fishing industry. Oregon dwellers may have to remove coastal locations and harvesting of seafood from coastal waters as viable options in any future SHTF/TEOTWAWKI events.

Most people think it is all a game.

Questions that will be asked by the unprepared.

        What is Happening?
        Did you see that?
What are “WE” going to do?
        Where should we go?
        Is it Dangerous?
What did the government say to do?

When you hear these type of questions from your neighbors you may have a problem. I will have little tolerance and to teach/babysit others who should have known better is not going to happen. Time is a resource and will not waste in on the stupid.
        Use it wisely.

        • I’ve tried to warn others. Most of the time it has fallen on deaf ears.

When THSTF, and they come to me asking for help, my response will be, “Sorry..I have nothing for you. Sucks to be you. I tried to warn you, but you didn’t believe me. Good luck and goodbye.”

          • I have gotten folks to see the light to a degree and helped em get going on preps/plans ideas, very satisfying. The fed reserve speech in Sweden in regards to bank”bail ins”seems to be having impact on those who didn’t “believe”.I will till it all goes wrong do my best to help others get ready,as I have said before, once the mental block is broken folks seem to pick up steam quickly as they realize some catching up to do to best of ability.

        • Hence the fence around my property with the gates, the sign reads keep out, trespassers may be shot

        • A fact of life is when SHTF, is that if you plan on survival for yourself, you are going to have to also kill a lot of other people. The worst is yet to come unfortunatly.

        • Yep, that’s what I thought too. However, for a bit of balance look at the people of “Muslymovo” (I hope I spelt that right!). Those people have dealt with far more radiation than we will ever get from Fukushima and do live for decades with it. For those who don’t know, they are downstream from the Soviet Mayak plutonium processing plant that had the third worst nuclear accident in history in 1957 (Khystim Disaster), and that continues to spew raw waste to this day. They get high enough level readings that just walking next to the river will over saturate most geiger counters, and even read fairly high on an ion chamber survey meter! What it basically shows though is that if you are older and past your offspring making years you can live around radiation for a while. However, the children these people have are usually horribly mutated and many don’t survive long.

      24. 4 Simple Questions

        1. Back in 1961 people of color were called ‘Negroes.’ So how can the Obama ‘birth certificate’ state he is “African-American” when the term

wasn’t even used at that time ?

        2. The birth certificate that the White House released lists Obama’s birth as August 4, 1961 & Lists Barack Hussein Obama as his father. No big deal, Right ? At the time of Obama’s birth, it also shows that his father is aged 25 years old, and that Obama’s father was born in “Kenya , East Africa “.

This wouldn’t seem like anything of concern, except the fact that Kenya did not even exist until 1963, two whole years after Obama’s birth, and 27 years after his father’s birth. How could Obama’s father have been born in a country that did not yet Exist? Up and until Kenya was formed in 1963, it was known as the “British East Africa Protectorate”.

        3. On the Birth Certificate released by the White House, the listed place of birth is “Kapi’olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital”.

This cannot be, because the hospital(s) in question in 1961 were called “KauiKeolani Children’s Hospital” and “Kapi’olani Maternity Home”, Respectively.
The name did not change to Kapi’olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital until 1978, when these two hospitals merged.

How can this particular name of the hospital be on a birth certificate dated 1961 if this name had not yet been applied to it until 1978 ?

Why hasn’t this been discussed in the major media?

        4. Perhaps a clue comes from Obama’s book on his father. He states how proud he is of his father fighting in WW II. I’m not a math genius, so I may need some help from you. Barack Obama’s “birth certificate” says his father was 25 years old in 1961 when Obama was born. That should have put his father’s date of birth approximately 1936-if my math holds (Honest! I did That without a calculator!!!) Now we need a non-revised history book-one that hasn’t been altered to satisfy the author’s goals-to verify that WW II was basically between 1939 and 1945. Just how many 3 year olds fight in Wars? Even in the latest stages of WW II his father wouldn’t have been more than 9 years old. Does that mean that Mr. Obama is a liar, or simply chooses to alter the facts to satisfy his imagination or political purposes ?

      25. Lived in OR for 14 years, and WA for 10. Don’t trust the people or the culture. The climate is mild enough that the city gangs will be able to roam everywhere pillaging and killing at will. The western side of the mountains is too populated. If I had to live there it would be on the eastern side.

By the way, we have had better luck growing food (except for certain fruits) in the upper Midwest than we did in western OR. Oh, and don’t forget the proximity to Fukushima.

      26. I was trying to figure out what to do with a ramen noodle packet today. It was “beef’. Here’s what I did:

I had a 1 pound butter bowl of cooked plain rice in the fridge.
I took some bell peppers, celery and onions out of the freezer.

I took a skillet (I don’t have a wok) and put a dash of vegetable oil in it and heated it to medium-high.

In went the frozen vegetables, some garlic and chives and a couple dashes of chili powder. I sauteed until the veggies were not frozen, then poured in the plain, cooked white rice.

I mixed well with a spoon, getting a little oil on the rice. I mixed two eggs into the pan, along with some chopped green onions.

I then sprinkled the beef bullion ramen noodle packet on the rice, mixed in and stir-fried the contents.

The result tasted just like I had opened a box of Chinese take-out!

All I was missing was some deep-fried prawns…

        • Now I’m hungry…

But I think I’ll drink my supper tonight to celebrate my much appreciated “labor”. In fact, I may celebrate my hard work all weekend long. Cheers.

        • Hope you can tolerate massive doses of salt and MSG, ’cause that’s about all that’s on those “flavor packets”.

          • I really didn’t add as much as you think. Less than one packet to about a pound of rice, plus another 3/4 pound of veggies and 2 eggs.

But you know what? After eating beans and rice for who-knows-how-long, A little sodium might taste rather good for a change. You get hungry enough, you won’t be so picky.

            • Six,would say no matter how mundane or plain, when truly hungry every meal will be like a holiday meal event(hopefully without relative bickering!)>

              • Yes, I see it as “being thankful for what you have”.

      27. Had two earthquakes on exact spots that lead to very large earthquakes in the past within 15 and 1/2 days. The one on the northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge lead to a 7.2 in the Kuril Islands, an 8.2 in Papua New Guinea, and a 7.5 in norther Preu in 1996. in 2002 a 7.0 in Guam. The one on the SE Indian Ridge lead to a 7.6 in the Loyalty Islands in 1981, and an 8.4 in southern Peru back on June 23,2001. These same spots were hit within the past 24 hours.

On top of the past two precursor earthquakes, there was one a couple of days ago that hit the Mid Indian Ridge that lead to some 7’s and high 6’s. It therefore is highly likely that one or more of the following locations will get hit with a major earthquake bu Sept.15:

        Indonesia 7.2-8+
        New Guinea 7.4-8.3
Santa Cruz Islands to Fiji/Kermadec Islands 7.1-8.4
        Samoa to Tonga 7.0-7.5
Pakistan, Iran and eastern Turkey 6.8-7.5
        China 6.5-7.4
        Japan 7.0-8.0
Kuril Islands to Eastern Russia 7.5-8.7
Aluetian Islands to Southern Alaska coastline 7.2-9.0+
        Mexico and Central America 6.5-7.0
Ecuador, Columbia, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, northern Argentina 6.8-9.0+
        Guam and Mariana Islands 6.7-7.5
Mid Atlantic Ridge and South Sandwich Islands 6.6-7.8

There are no other indications of other areas showing tension strangely enough. This could change with new earthquakes along these outer plates. There is of course also chance of volcanic activity along the northern Pacific plate especially, as also the Iceland volcano looks like it is ready to blow.

      28. The weather in western central Florida has been very strange along the coast. No summer time rainy pattern as usual. Dry hot temps in the mid and upper 90’s. Very little tropical weather for months. Also usually wasps are plentiful building their nests under the eaves. This year no such activity. I was born in Florida and lived here about 60 years in it. I don’t ever remember a summer like this.

        • The rain has been in eastern NC, and the wasps are at my house. If you want, I can box up some and mail them to you.

      29. Who cares about the illegals making it beautiful or not. The canyon is now the ugliest place in America due to the fire that just consumed the canyon. Very sad because it use to be extremely gorgeous. Rand McNally rated that canyon in the top 10 prettiest drives in america. Fire destroyed that.
