In what is being called a “new phase of the war”, the Israeli military has expanded its ground invasion of Gaza. Additionally, Israel is ramping up its bombardment of the Strip, targeting what the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said were Hamas tunnels and other infrastructure.

“All of my friends living abroad are asking me about their families if they are okay,” journalist Hind al-Khudary, one of the few people who was able to post on social media intermittently, said on X. “I do not know if my own family is okay.. I can’t reach anyone. My heart is scattered into pieces,” he said according to a report by Axios.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said Israel has “moved to a new phase in the war. We attacked above the ground and under the ground and the operation will continue until further notice.”

Israel Raids Gaza, Vows A Ground Invasion is Still Coming

Israel has made good on its promise to invade the Gaza Strip. The IDF and the Shin Bet intelligence agency said in a statement that Israeli forces killed two Hamas commanders overnight. There has been no confirmation from Hamas, which vowed to counter Israel’s operation with “full force,” per Reuters.

This war is rapidly exploding, especially in light of the United States ruling class attacking Syria.

Israeli rulers say that their goal is to “destroy Hamas,” after which they will establish a “new security regime” in Gaza. It’s still unclear how Israel intends to eliminate Hamas, as the U.S.’s involvement increases. G
