You’ve probably been told your whole life that monsters aren’t real, but you might be hard pressed to believe that sentiment after reading this story.

A Florida resident came upon a grizzly scene on his rural property earlier this month, after one of his pet goats went missing. Scott Dame, who lives in Naples and runs a pest control business, went searching for the animal with his family. It was the second goat that had gone missing on his property over the course of three weeks.

His 10-year-old grandson was the first person to find the goat, which was in the clutches of a massive 12 foot python. Scott then raced over to the snake, and promptly shot it with a pistol. But that wasn’t enough to slay the beast. If you have a strong stomach, check out the footage Scott shot of the encounter with his cell phone.

As it tried to slither away, he shot it several more times until it finally expired. “Although I have dealt with a lot of snakes over the years” he told FOX 13 “I never expected this huge exotic snake in my own yard.”

As you might expect, the goat did not survive. However, Scott expressed gratitude over the fact that the snake was finally dead. “We were all sad about the goats but at least it won’t get any more.”

      1. A HANDGUN AGAINST A SNAKE? Unless you’re a marksman, I’d say no to that idea. One round of 00 buckshot from any good shotgun would’ve shredded that bastard. That poor guy had to be DESPERATE using a pistol. Maybe it was all he had. If I was him, I’d go out and buy a good 12-ga. or 20-ga., practice with it, and stock up on 00 buck.

        • does florida have a bounty on those snakes yet? i would think if they want to iradicate them they would have a bounty…..the nile monitor, too…at LEAST they could put a DENT in the population.

          • People turn these things loose when they get too big to keep. Just another example of assbags ditching their responsibilities when things get inconvenient.

          • Yes. Probably all that needs to be said regarding this matter.

          • They do BCoD. Or I should say ‘we’ do have a bounty program. The problem is numbers, location (Everglades are a perfect environment for the snakes; hell, Florida in general is – and worse – people still bring the things in, they grow, the idiots release to the wild or they escape. Come to the Sunshine State – you’ll never see so much in the way of non-native species anywhere else in the country. From trees to insects, birds to reptiles and amphibians – the entire State is over-run by the stupidity of the past. Rather like letting the Muslims into Europe – things breed and take over. Once control is lost it’s a b*tch to get it back.

            • more like IMPOSSIBLE to get it back under control, but a GOOD bounty program has GOT to help to stem the tide….and SEVERE penalties for releasing animals if caught doing it….some people don’t believe in the electric chair, but for the people releasing animals like these into the wild…..we need electric BLEACHERS!…..or maybe even MORE severe penalties than that.

              • Severe penalties for those releasing exotics. Too late. As usual another problem that wasn’t taken seriously.

                • Oboinga released Muslims into a non-natural environment of good people. We need to release some white people to control the population

            • Florida is perfect environment for homeless people too. I always suggest to beggars on the street that they retire in Florida.

        • Daggone right DB! I’d had nothing less than a shotgun and a pair of snake boots on for the smaller ones.

          • I watched a show the other day and some biologists are claiming there are more than 100 thousand Burmese pythons in the wild in Florida and as the reproduce they are moving northward. Young kids and pets can be consumed by the adults and these snakes can kill grown men also. Gun is good idea as enough bullets will kill anything. Sharp knife too as you probably won’t win a fight with one with your hands when it’s wrapped you. Their teeth do alot of damage to flesh also.

            • On that same program they cut an adult B python open and it contained a deer that looked to be almost grown that was undigested. These things are a threat to our families. Kill on sight or get away from it and call someone that will kill it.

              • If you have a swimming pool in FL it’d be a good idea to look in it before you jump in.

                • Menzo, I would have nothing less than a shotgun for dealing with a python. 00 buckshot or birdshot will take care of it, although it may take more rounds for a python than a regular snake.

                  • Me neither brother I just don’t carry around a shotgun much..40 hollow point on me most everywhere though.

                • Yes, if you have an indoor toilet in Florida always check under the toilet seat before you sit down. If a snake like this bites your balls ? you are done breeding.

            • If you bite the snake’s head and don’t let go there is not much the snake can do about it.

        • YES!

He has the wrong firearm SHOTGUN just about works the first time everytime.

          NO HUS, NO FUSS .

Works on human, animal, mineral and, vegetable………

          • Does it work on tanks?

        • A 22 lr pistol with snake shot?Well since the goat was already dead it was just a revenge killing.

        • You can just grab the snake by its tail and snap it like a whip. That is how my jack Russell dog does it. No gun needed.

        • some pistol rounds do come as snake shot ..

          ht tps://www.midwayusa.com/product/395087/cci-shotshell-ammunition-38-special-100-grains-9-shot-box-of-10

          • I bet if that snake ate a skunk it would have bad breath

        • Survival tip: If you are ever grabbed by a large boa constrictor and you can’t get to a knife to cut it loose then you have to go “mongoose” and chew the snakes head off quickly. No kidding.

        • Deplorable,
I don’t agree, I think a Taurus Judge loaded with .410 might be just the right trick for personal carry around a Florida farm with lots of big freaking snakes.

          • That 410 in a short barrel sucks. I was shooting my kids S&W Governor with 410 shot and the pellets bounced off a piece of OSB board and pellets hit my face. What a shit gun. If you were stupid enough to buy one load it with 45 Colt rounds

      2. Ain’t I been saying it

      3. Poor snake?

        • You’re an idiot

          • We all are.

      4. That was a smart, well-trained kid. Kept his head and got the job done. Sad the goat was lost. Those large snakes are a legacy of the exotic pet trade. Good thing I like cold weather. Florida has too many bugs and too many critters. Ewwwww.

      5. PD, I spent a few years in FL so I know exactly what you mean. The kid did the best he could with the handgun and did keep a cool head. He would’ve been better off with a 12-ga. or 20-ga. loaded with 00 buck. 1 round of 00 buck will shred a snake. I’ve seen it done.

        • Ya, I hear ya DB. Kid used the tool he had at hand. I was impressed. By the way, that goat didn’t look like a baby goat to me. All the different types of goats, hard to tell. Lots of people have those mini goats that faint too. More like pets than critters to eat.

          • Goats are easier to have in Florida’s environment. Trouble is there’s gators, cottonmouths, rattlers, and now pythons. The goats are used to eating the fauna that is native to Florida. Just gotta keep an eye on the livestock even more so now is all. I pulled three black snakes (all 5-6 footers)last week out of my chicken coop in a three day period. I hate to kill them cause they eat rodents and are non poisonous, but one did have about three of my eggs in it (why it was slow moving).

          • I haven’t wrestled anything that big since I went to the bathroom to pee.

            • And then you woke up.

              • I am going to tattoo my Weiner to match the anaconda

        • AIM! One shot, maybe two if you didn’t aim well. Get close, it’s not a gator. A handgun will work. Shotgun? At 15 ft, birdshot will cut it in half. The pattern is less than 2″ diameter.

          • A big stick or a sharp knife. Cut off the head just like we need to do with the federal reserve

        • It wasn’t the kid that killed it, he just discovered it. Poor snake. The snake would be a great way to keep the “kid” population in check?

      6. These non-indigenous snakes are playing havoc with the Florida ecosystem. All indigenous species, farm animals, and pets are being impacted. This includes the endangered Florida Panther.

Kill these pythons when you see them. Shotguns are best. The problem will only get worse unless we act decisively. Let’s hope it doesn’t take a python killing a child before action is taken to eradicate these predators.

        • The threat against children in SW Florida, especially where this python was taken are panthers. One was seen by a school bus stop around Naples a few months back. Think that 135lb cat understands the difference between a 50 lb hog and a kid except that the kid is an easier meal? Its going to happen as their numbers and locations killed by cars is dramatically increasing. When it does the brain dead idealist tree hugging public will ask, “How did that happen”. Common sense says, “How can it not happen”?

Southern Florida of 100 years ago isn’t Florida today. Panthers aren’t even native.

      7. Mac trying to figure out how this has anything to do with shtf.

      8. I have seen videos of those snakes killing and eating large alligators. The Everglades National Park is overrun with constrictor snakes and they have organized hunts to kill them off. The snakes reproduce so quickly that they outpace any effort to kill them off. They are fast and hard to find.

      9. A dead snake is a good snake!

        • Generally black snakes are good.

      10. There is a hunting season for exotic snakes, water monitors in Florida.Need a permit and training as to humanely kill em.Visit the Florida Fish and Game website
The area where the snakes are a problem is west of Miami in the Everglades. These exotic snakes are the apex predator and will eat your cats ,dogs, livestock and native wildlife.

        • When I was a kid, the there were bounties on fox, poisonous snakes and a few other dangerous or invasive species. The season was, all year round, no limit. Deliver a head, ears, or paws per the regulations and you got your bounty. It was good money for kids.

Rangers didn’t care how you killed it.

Today it’s called animal cruelty, and of course rabies is on the rise, along with poisonous snake bites.

      11. Could have been a kid, lucky it was only a goat….But I would agree, the exotic pet trade is the cause, and this is what you get, an invasive breeding out of control danger that needs to be eradicated and bounties put on them, and other invasive species of ALL types.

      12. Damm good shooting bud!!!!…..That python was the king of the swamp until you introduced him to your .45

      13. I sometimes refer to change agents, as dangerous, exotic pets.

        • That snake squeezed just like a tax collector

      14. Thank you stupid pet owners of Florida for introducing an invasive species into the wild.
Once again, a case of Americans creating more problems for America. The range of these
beasts now goes as far west as Arkansas. They have been found near Greers Ferry, which
is north of Little Rock. Before you take something home from the pet shop, please stop and
consider what you are doing. After it eats your cat, please kill it. Don’t release it into the
        wild.

      15. A non-native snake squeezing the life out of a living, functioning entity. Reminds me of what the far left – which is also non-native to this country – is doing to our economy and our culture. Only worse.

      16. This is also a fine video of how to handle mooslimes.

        • It sure is!

          • There is no bigger snake in the grass as a scum muslim.

      17. Black snakes always slithering around these parts right out in plain view. I don’t bother them though because it’s their natural habitat. I once saw a group of people corner and hack a beautiful large water moccasin to death at a riverbank. Snakes alive, to kill them is sickening to me. The large non native invasive species are another story.

      18. seriously, does not anyone out there have a Knife or machete?

      19. Mmmm. Snake Burgers. Make that snake pay for the lost goat.

Yep. I’m back after years of this and that.

      20. Put down the cellphone and shoot first, then take pics.

Mighta got a head shot if he had.

      21. Saw a similar footage of a python constricting a 6 month old baby in the Congo. The baby was dead, but the hunter who was on safari used a 30-30 on the bastard w/ one shot.!!!!

        • Was it a black baby?

      22. Sierra Dave, good to see you back. How’ve you been?

        • Good. Just drifted off to different sites. Still a prepper. Waiting for the next market downturn and to see how bad it is.

I think under Trump, the recovery will be much faster. Presuming it’s not too much a nose dive.

      23. Ah, all the Monday morning quarterbacks. This kid had a .22. He went to war with what he had. This kid had guts. Remember being a kid? Remember having guts?

        • Hey Roger, you must be low information when it comes to firearms…that sir was a glock, and it sure weren’t no .22…likely a 40 .

      24. Between the pythons, gators, sinkholes, brown recluse spiders, black widow spiders, various types of poisonous snakes, thugs and muslims, I’m hoping that all the damn Yankees from New York and New Jersey go back to where the hell they came from and leave the rest of us the hell alone. If ever a portion of the U.S. needed an enema, it’s the north east.

      25. Taking an afternoon nap under the open sky? If you are anywhere around those things, I recommend a hammock!

        • They climb hammocks, you would be wrapped like a burrito is all

      26. “If you have a strong stomach, check out the footage Scott shot of the encounter with his cell phone.”

To me that is the most disturbing thing about this whole article. Have we become such wusses that we can’t see a dead goat and a near bloodless death of an invasive vermin w/o a nausea reaction ?

Do none of us kill and clean fish, rabbits, chickens or field dress deer?

I’m no hardcore outdoorsman or survivalist, but I’ve been involved in all those activities during my life so far.

        What are we coming to…?

        <bb

        • Yea, that snake would make a great hat band. The goat a great open pit roast while the snake meat simmered in the stew pot. Mmmm mmmm

        • Seems the guy got some flack on social media for killing the snake. I’d suggest any of those morons who freaked out should have a snake like that as their pet. Around their family and beloved pets. Any takers morons?

      27. Best I can tell is, the kid did not shoot the snake. His father shot the snake. He used a Glock pistol at close range. If you can’t hit a big snake at close range, you shouldn’t be in snake country. If you need a shotgun for this, maybe you all should get new glasses.

      28. Him, 00 buckshot and birdshot are far more effective for killing snakes. I’ve seen both used on snakes with devastating results…..for the SNAKE, of course. The snakes were literally shredded.

        • When I lived near Lake Erie, we fished in lots of marshy areas. Snakes were everywhere. I shot them with 22lr, 22 WMR, 12 ga bird shot, pellet guns, 410 shotguns. The most fun was shotguns when the big water moccasins were headed toward your boat. The the splash of the 12 ga around the snake was a hoot. KaBooom! But really we used our boat paddle to whack them most often.

          • Lake Erie is way out of the range of Water Moccasins (aka Cotton Mouth) Perhaps you are mistaken.

            <bb

        • I have killed “hundreds of snakes” 12 ga with 1 oz of #9 birdshot skeet shells at close range is a peach ? . But a 22lr will kill the biggest snake in the world with head or spine hits. 00 buck sucks unless very close because the pattern sucks. If nothing else a big rock will get’r done.

      29. So how many peeps have been fined or caught concerning any criminal activity related to this? Answer. Not many.

        • Rattle snakes are protected in Colorado and you can only kill them during hunting season.
