A powerful typhoon named Jebi slammed into Japan killing six people and injuring another 90. The storm was so strong that winds tossed a 2,600-ton tanker into a bridge.
Jebi was named appropriately. The typhoon’s name means “swallow” in Korean. Jebi was briefly a super typhoon and is the latest harsh weather to hit Japan this summer following rains, landslides, floods and record-breaking heat that has killed hundreds of people.
This was the strongest typhoon to strike Japan since 1993. The typhoon first made landfall on the island of Shikoku and then again near Kobe on Honshu, before heading out to the Sea of Japan in the evening. As the typhoon made landfall, a 71-year-old man was found dead under a collapsed warehouse, and a man in his 70s fell from the roof of a house and died, NHK public television reported, adding more than 90 were injured.
The bridge that was damaged by the tanker connected Kansai International Airport in Osaka, which was built on a man-made island in a bay, to the mainland. The bridge was heavily damaged but the tanker was empty and none of its crew was injured, the coast guard said.
According to ABC, the strength of typhoon Jebi’s winds also tipped over a truck and a van traveling across a bridge there, pushing the vehicles to the side of the bridge.

In Kyoto, debris picked up by the typhoon’s strong winds was flung into the glass ceiling of the central train station, causing the glass to fall into the atrium below. Some of the glass was said to “narrowly miss several people.”
Evacuation advisories were issued for more than 1 million people, and more than 700 flights were canceled according to Japanese media tallies. High-speed bullet train services were suspended from Tokyo west to Hiroshima. Tokyo escaped relatively unscathed, with some intermittent squalls.

Rahm Emanuel announced he won’t run for re-election as Chicago mayor.
That means he’s going back to his day job. Working for Mossad.
And that’s why so many Japanese settled in Hawaii. Who could blame them.
The one-family ethnocentricity of the Japanese make it easier for Japan to tolerate crisis. But the aging of it’s population, and the failure of the young to have large families is a decisive disservice to the survival of Japan.
After the cleanup, get busy Japan. Make babies. Your Country needs all it can get. It isn’t all that unpleasant a task.

Any word on how Fukushima is doing?
Many prayers are with those poor people who
have had more than their share of problems.
Maybe that nuclear waste pouring out of that
nuclear plant is a bigger problem than reported.
Water evaporates……comes down as weapon.
They need to clean up their problem……before
it becomes……oh wait…..never mind.
Japan is a very strange place. And in all honesty, Okinawa has its own culture and is as different as Hawaii is from the rest of the USA.
What little information that escapes is either hopelessly tainted by war propaganda from bitter elderly American veterans of WW2 or ridiculous stories by the fake news media.
While originally a samurai culture did exist from say 900-1650 AD, that was only 10% of the people and under feudalism. Afterwards their culture stagnated due extreme xenophobia as a result of Roman Catholic missionaries coupled with slavery that has all but been forgotten in the passage of history. As a result, Nobunaga and Tokugawa largely kicked out all the Roman Catholic priests because they were concerned about Spanish and Portuguese replicating what they had done in South and Central America.
Tokugawa turned fighting samurai into bureaucrats and thus is no hero. He was so concerned about creating a dynasty that he all but drove samurai into penury. That created untold amounts of ronin and banditry. Yet the Shogun tv series celebrated him, while he is a base villain.
Merchants were considered the lowest class except for the eta or burakumin. Merchants were horrible money lenders and thus despised and rightly so.
The dynasty lasted 200 years and in the end, the shogunate failed, and then the Meiji era began which officially ended the samurai era.
What happened was Meiji destroyed bushido as a concept, and listened to his advisors, and hired every German and Austria they could find in military science and in western science in general. The goal was to transform the nation of Japan (Nippon) and ultimately to colonize China and Korea.
That culminated in The Russo-Japanese war, every event in Manchuria and Korea, then pacific conquest, then WW2.
And all that after LeMay’s brutal firebombing campaign and the ultimate destruction of the Christian center at Nagasaki and Hiroshima, entirely wiped out militarism.
The zaibatsu actually were often merchants who bought out impoverished ronins (masterless samurai) and thus claimed their samurai lineage, and these merchants were largely responsible for the atrocities of WW2. So that has almost nothing to do with the samurai.
The average Japanese ie the other ninety percent are largely extremely nostalgic and given to watching very cheesy romantic drama while weirdly the youngest Japanese millennials men are nearly asexual. Pathos and tragedy affect all of their culture as if they feel doomed.
Whatever you imagine about the Japanese either overly glorifies the samurai who basically ended in 1650, or you think they are overly aggressive Nanking monsters while totally accepting that 17,500 dead massacred civilians (documented by Chinese historians and has not changed for a decade) justifies 1,250,000 civilian mass murders through genocide by America through firebombing and atomic warfare.
When actually, the average Japanese man is rather peculiar.
Now the average Japanese lady is so submissive and good natured in her youth, but an American marrying one just about removes her from her heritage and transferring her to America makes her horribly lonely. I’ve seen that happen over and over.
The Japanese Americans are considered model minorities and typically become professionals but sadly are just about all Democrats.
