Because it’s flu season and we are experiencing a global outbreak of the coronavirus, we should all be preparing our bodies the best we can to fight back! Boosting your immune system and getting a face mask will help, and here’s how to go about it.
Boosting your immune system can be considered your last line of defense, but also the most important one. If your body is functioning at its best, it will be easier to fight off a viral infection like the flu or coronavirus.
Boost Immune System – Get enough vitamin D, vitamin C, and zinc to help your immune system run at optimum levels. Vitamin D can be the more difficult one to get during the winter since the sun is our best and main source of it. But you can try eating foods high in vitamin D such as fatty fish, cheese, beef liver, and egg yolks. Vitamin C can be easily gotten by eating citrus fruits and broccoli, kale, and cauliflower. Zinc is abundant in foods such as meat, shellfish, and seeds. Up your intake of these foods to give your immune system a fighting chance.
Hand Washing – make sure you are washing your hands frequently and especially before touching your nose, mouth, or eyes. Wash your hands thoroughly before eating also. Use water as hot as you can tolerate and scrub your hands together for at least 20 seconds. Help your children too, so they can learn proper handwashing techniques. Sometimes hand washing is inconvenient, so carry some hand sanitizer that will fit in your pocket or purse. Hand washing is best, but hand sanitizer will do in a pinch. In this Bundle of Antibacterial Hand Sanitizer Gels are five small containers. Each one will easily go in a pocket, purse, or backpack.
Exercise – keeping your body healthy may be one of the most important things you can do in general, but it will also help you fight the flu or the coronavirus. Bodies that are overworked due to excess visceral fat or other health conditions can have a hard time fighting off infections. If exercising is too tough right now, start with something mild such as a walk or yoga, but make sure you consult a doctor first to make sure it’s right for you.
Get Enough Sleep – the benefits of sleep are numerous, and this is when your body repairs itself. Try to get as much as your body needs (some need 7 hours and some will need 9 hours of sleep) to feel rested and not tired or worn out when you get up. Some sleep herbal teas can help, and taking melatonin is a natural way to enhance your sleep. Other than that, try to avoid alcohol right before bed. Instead, try to stretch or do some yoga to relax.
Wear a Face Mask – unfortunately, most of these are sold out everywhere. There are still some 3M N100 particulate respirators available, but they probably won’t be for much longer.
None of these will completely eliminate your chances of getting sick, but doing several or all of them could lessen the chances. They could also give your body the edge if you do happen to get the flu or the coronavirus, and you could be more prepared to fight it off.
