The more scientists study this new coronavirus, the more alarming it becomes. When this outbreak first emerged, officials told us that it was very unlikely that it could be transmitted from human to human.
When that was shown to be obviously wrong, officials started claiming that human to human transmission would be “limited” as we saw during the SARS epidemic. Of course, that was completely wrong too, and now we know that this new coronavirus actually spreads like wildfire among human populations, and that is because it is much different from the SARS virus. In fact, brand new research conducted by scientists at the University of Texas at Austin has discovered that this coronavirus “is up to 20 times more likely to bind to human cell receptors”…
The deadly new coronavirus is up to 20 times more likely to bind to human cell receptors and cause infection than severe acute respiratory syndrome (Sars), a new study by researchers at the University of Texas at Austin has found.
The novel coronavirus and Sars share the same functional host-cell receptor, called angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2).
According to this new study, the “high affinity of 2019-nCoV S for human ACE2 may contribute to the apparent ease with which 2019-nCoV can spread from human to human”, and that statement should definitely send a chill down your spine.
The speed with which this virus spreads has been absolutely stunning, and the latest numbers that we have indicate that it has a reproduction rate which is almost unprecedented. The following comes from Natural News…
The reproduction rate (R0) of the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19) – meaning the number of other people that one infected person could potentially spread it to – has been steadily rising over the past several months. Early on, it was in the 1.0-2.0 range. Then, it changed to as high as 6.6. Now, the latest science says we’ve breached 7.05.
What this means is that one infected person could spread the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19) to seven other people, who could then each spread it to seven other people themselves. In other words, one infected person infects seven other people, who then collectively infect 49 other people, who then infect 343 other people, who then infect 2,401 people, and on and on it goes.
And even if you get this virus and eventually recover, there is a chance that you could get it again fairly quickly…
Li QinGyuan, director of pneumonia prevention and treatment at China Japan Friendship Hospital in Beijing, said a protective antibody is generated in those who are infected.
“However, in certain individuals, the antibody cannot last that long,” Li said. “For many patients who have been cured, there is a likelihood of relapse.”
Needless to say, all of the information that I have just shared with you is really bad news.
This is an exceedingly dangerous virus, and the potential for a horrific global pandemic is definitely there.
But Chinese President Xi Jinping insists that the outbreak is slowing down in his country and that his government “is witnessing positive changes”…
Xi said, “the battle has reached a crucial time” and China had “mobilized the entire country, and adopted the most comprehensive, rigorous and thorough prevention and control measures,” Xinhua reported.
“Thanks to those arduous efforts, the situation is witnessing positive changes,” Xi said.
Hopefully he is correct, but at this point, there is a tremendous amount of skepticism about the official numbers coming out of China. In fact, even the White House has expressed skepticism about the numbers.
It would definitely be welcome news if the Chinese were actually getting this outbreak under control, but if that is the case then why did they just bring 40 industrial incinerators into Wuhan?…
China has reportedly deployed 40 industrial incinerators to the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak Wuhan.
Chinese media reports that the furnaces have been shipped to the city amid ongoing fears the death toll is being covered up.
NTD reports that the cabins are for the disposal of animal carcasses, while China Ship news reports the incinerators are for medical waste.
We know that funerals have been banned in the affected areas and that the government is mandating that all bodies be burned.
And we also know that dead bodies have been piling up at crematoriums in Wuhan even though they have been burning bodies 24 hours a day.
So are these industrial incinerators being brought in to help burn the backlog of dead bodies?
We don’t know, but that is what a lot of people suspect.
Meanwhile, this outbreak continues to escalate all over the globe. Just a few hours ago, we learned that the number of confirmed cases in South Korea has risen to 46…
The number of coronavirus cases in South Korea rose to 46 on Wednesday, after 15 new cases were reported, including a cluster of nearly a dozen centred on the southeastern city of Daegu.
Of the new cases, 13 were in Daegu and neighbouring North Gyeongsang province, said the Korea Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC), and eleven were believed to be linked to a single patient, a 61-year-old woman.
And I was quite surprised to learn that Iran has reported two deaths due to the coronavirus…
The 2 Iranians who reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 have died, according to several foreign media reports cited by Reuters.
As we reported earlier, a health ministry spokesperson said both cases were found and isolated in the city of Qom, where the two were treated in quarantine. Their conditions were said to be relatively stable earlier.
There are very few areas of the globe that have not been hit yet, and the number of cases outside of China continues to rise at an exponential rate.
Here in the United States, the number of confirmed cases is still fairly low, but the secrecy with which some officials are treating this outbreak is quite curious. The following example comes from Natural News…
According to the Tampa Bay Times, “state health officials say they can’t disclose how many people have been tested for the virus… state Surgeon General Scott Rivkees said the Florida Department of Health is not authorized to publish the number of people in the state being tested for the virus out of privacy concerns.”
But that’s a lie.
Publishing aggregate numbers without any personally identifiable information doesn’t violate any law or regulation related to personal health privacy.
Hopefully, those officials are just being overly protective and they aren’t trying to cover something up.
Because the American people deserve the truth, and they haven’t always been getting it during this crisis.
I am still hoping that President Trump is correct and that this outbreak will start to fade once winter ends and warmer temperatures arrive. But all of the scientific research that has been conducted so far indicates that this is an extremely dangerous virus, and we should all be taking this outbreak very seriously.

Dickson Tufor, I challenge you to give us a number. A half billion people are essentially under martial law. How many more must be locked down before you will be concerned?
Howdy Y’all,
Before proceeding please bear in mind that the number of ‘Troll’ sightings hereabouts is also likely to see an exponential increase shortly…since the Peoples Republic of Dumbass has just hired on an additional 1600 people to ‘moderate the public perception of the Central Commitee’s handling of the CoViD-2019 outbreak’.
Forewarned IS forewarned, eh?
Personally, I’ve never given a rodent’s derriere about the trolling that goes on in our side of the pond; this is OUR Sandbox and anyone who doesn’t like it can take their toys and GTFO. Period.
Nuff said on that. IF Mr Snyder’s reporting is correct and the researchers have obtained results as stated, then that coupled to the fact that the ‘E carrier’s’ infective stage can last from 3-24 days is extraordinarily ‘Not Good’. Simply put, this acts as a direct multiplier to the R0 in play since this would effectively serve to double the time during which the virus might be transmitted ‘silently’.
Act accordingly.
However, tonight I’m primarily interested in passing along some of what we’ve learned since our group’s departure several years ago. To start, let’s all agree that life without electricity is mighty unpleasant for those who grew up having it ubiquitously from childhood up.
So, as a start, if you’re going solar, wind or generator (or ALL the preceding in tandem…) you’ll immediately find that unless you can ‘store’ that adequately it’s about more random – in use – than you’ll care to live with.
1) Battery Banks
The heart of any storage/conversion system is the battery bank and inverter/charger attached to it that performs the conversion back and forth between AC and DC. You’ll likely have selected your I/C (Inverter/charger) according to what your budget dictates…that’s fine, though those of you who have opted for the 12V variant will be somewhat disappointed – especially if you’re charging your back via generator. Put simply, the basic efficiency of a 12V I/C is about 45%, while the corresponding efficiencies for 24V and 48V based systems are respectively 74% and 92%.
However, none of that means doodle-doo when your batteries age or discharge to deeply or equivalently too often. That’s where the following comes in at. Go over to a site online “pulsetech.com” and look at their offering in the “ReadyPulse” and “PowerPulse” lines. The ReadyPulse line allows you to either maintain or alternately recover deeply discharged batteries (albeit VERY slowly in the latter case) while the PowerPulse allows you to continuously effect desolation on the fly in-system without driving your I/C insane…which the former WILL do; that unit is only for batteries not actively being used in a system. If your system is 12, 24 or 48 Volt then upon getting to the main site page simply go up to the search bar there and type in PP12, PP24 or PP48 and you immediately be where you want to be for the unit that will coexist harmoniously with your I/C.
There is a caveat that most needs be mentioned here with respect to the PP line; when wiring those in-state you must place an automotive type switch inline with those such that when the system is not cycling regularly those will not drain your system unattended inasmuch as those are strapped directly across the terminals of your battery bank and draw their motive power directly from same.
If you happily have a brand-spanking new bank, you can expect – roughly speaking here – around 500% increase in longevity of your pile. Otherwise, in an already employed system you’ll easily see a 200-300% increase instead…if you USE your pile JUDICIOUSLY!!
In my experience people seem to think that their fancy ‘DEEP cycle batteries can be drawn to down to zilch and after a year or two wonder why, ‘Dem dam batturrees donna work no mo’.
Please…
Instead, specifically what I mean here is don’t draw your piles EVER below 15% of total draw. As soon as you do, get the generator fired up and get them FULLY charged pronto…even with the articles I mention above. Otherwise – especially in the case of long, slow draw off of the pile – the accumulation of Lead Sulfide II will overwhelm anything you can do to reverse the effect.
2) Generators
Put simply here if you’re staking your existence on a gasoline based generator you’re going to be experiencing a lot of dark, lonely nights in about two years. Gasoline fueled generators are simply NOT designed to provide the sustained loads that diesels are built for…however, you absolutely must size your generator to your anticipated needs else your unit will be running under near no-load conditions for far too long resulting in the cylinder walls glazing. Once that has occurred nothing short of a re-hone of the cylinder walls will suffice to restore the cylinder walls and thereafter you’ll see your unit’s engine oil consumption slowly, steadily begin to increase. The problem there is this; when Motor Oil burns inside a cylinder then the effective cylinder temps go up 300-400 degrees in operation. In relatively short order this additional heat begins searing the valve stems and once that happens the amount of oil entering the cylinder (via valve stem drip) rapidly becomes FAR greater than the amount passing up from the crankcase past the piston rings, thus further compounding the problem radically.
So, think this way…try to size your generator to be somewhere between 1.25-2.00 times the maximum utilization you expect to see while the I/C is in the initial rapid charge mode during which it draws the most power. Thereafter, the I/C will first sustain maximum input to the battery bank for a rather lengthy period and THEN ‘Float’ the bank. DO NOT think that you’ve charged your bank up until float has been fully executed. In normal charging a countervailing coating of PbS develops on the surface of the plates as the chemical process that delivered the power you have just lately used is reversed. The ‘Sustain’ AND ‘Float’ are two sides of the same coin…you’ve accomplished little to nothing if you don’t allow the cycle to complete FULLY.
Well, that’s about as much as I feel like typing tonight and I will bid you all, Adieu for the Eve.
JOG
PS There is a very large amount to follow (voluminous) over the next few weeks…stay tuned.
good stuff, thank you
I liked to see idealized, friendly depictions of traditional, rural life, in Asia, and an underground church, which might actually take the Bible literally.
So, afaic, their embassies (propaganda outlets) are falsely confusing state atrocities with racism.
I’ve seen just one or two pro-Communists, already. All I ask is that you admit to your biases or political associations.
Secularists are capable of objectivity and basic politeness. Say that you are a state actor (people on both sides of the ocean) and what is your version of the story.
Our state tv interviews admitted cultists and mass murderers, for nothing other than general interest. So, identify yourself, plainly. Say what is your perspective, and why you think that.
And, everyone could be polite, like it was book club discussion, over tea.
Thanks for the information.
But keep in mind that not everyone can afford what’s best starting out.
Also a lot of new peeps coming into the fold since covid 19 outbreak.
I ran 12vdc dedicated circuits forever.
No I/C necessary 12v lights, water pump, fans, evaporative cooler, food storage cooler, counter top ice maker with ( 1500w portable inverter) etc.
Eliminating the inverter changes the efficiency numbers some what.
At the time I had a friend who was caretaker for fat cat yachts.
When he readied their boat for the season he would change out the l.a.deep cycle that did nothing but run the bilge pumps during the winter months …many like new.
I had a supply of batteries (gratis) but as you know can’t mix different vintage /diff. Ah batts. In the same bank.
Anyway I would be interested in knowing your opinion of gas to propane gen.converter kits. or store bought propane generators as opposed to gas- diesels. And
de- sulfation. of dem battreeees
If you are taking request.
* desulfation before the point of no return
Howdy Cue,
Happy to oblige friend, point in fact, THAT is why this site originally existed…but I’m not entirely sure about that anymore, up until the last few days the site has been feeling very much like a “Ghost Town”…but enough of that, eh?
The problem with direct use of DC is that the PF (power factor) is always exactly 1.00, and that means that the Joule heating losses are for any specific conductor, as high as they can physically be. That said, I rigged my Toy Hauler long ago to have a pure DC leg from which I ran a lot of DC LED lighting – inside and out.
Now, the Power Pulse units at Pulse Tech are quite cheap at around $80 per unit only one of which is needed on any 12 volt strapping. The ReadiPulse is a bit higher but can do some rather amazing things in terms of battery recovery if you’re willing to be patient.
A friend of mine associated with the Fort Greely THAAD batteries had managed to acquire 24 12Volt, 100 Amp*Hr batts and then left them in his garage for 4 years unused and without a maintainer across them. Needless to say, they were in really bad shape; the best of the bunch came in at 6.9 volts, the worst at 5.8 volts. The ReadiPulse has 12 individual taps coming off it and we took the first half of the batts, strapped them up an began logging the voltage per battery daily. Once a week we switched back and forth between those we were charging and those sitting and Lo and Behold, over the course of the next 4 months (with an input of about the same as a 10 Watt night light) damn near every last one had come up to above 12 Volts, which is admittedly very low for AGM type batts… but we weren’t finished.
Ordinarily, with either flooded cell or AGM’s when you’re seeing individual battery voltages on a 12V nominal battery that are below 9V or so, it’s effectively a lost cause…the sulfation is too high to overcome by known means.
The reason for that is as follows…at the instant that a current – either drawn or self-discharge – occurs, alloyed lead of which the plates consist reacts with the Sulphuric acid present in the cell to produce – naturally – Lead Sulphide. However, Lead Sulphide is allotropic; it can exist in exactly the same chemical state but take different physical forms. The Sulphide initially formed (if you could see it in a test tube) would look like the snow in a snow globe…light and fluffy. IF, you immediately send a reverse current through a solution containing that then it immediately separates back into pure lead and the Sulphur reconstituted as H2SO4, Sulphuric acid…thus, a completely reversible chemical reaction, yes?
However, in the case that the concentration of Lead Sulphide is high or alternately that has been allowed to set for more than at most 72 hours (or worse, BOTH in tandem)THEN something else happens, specifically, Lead Sulphide II forms. THAT is crystalline and almost completely insoluble in ordinary electrolyte solutions…therefore a fraction of the total available lead of the plates cannot be recovered and the battery has permanently lost a portion of it’s rated capacity.
This is where the Pulse Tech stuff comes in to play. Their various pieces of kit all pulse a low amp, 30 volt pulse running at about 25 KHz continuously which has the effect of ‘shattering’ the Crystals of Lead Sulphide II turning them back into a soluble substance, V’iola, restored batteries.
In practice, there is a lower limit on what you can recover thusly…think here – perhaps – 2.5 Volts, since you’d likely have to leave such on the ReadiPulse for more than a year to effect a significant recovery. Like I said, sslloooowwww, eh?
The 24 batteries I had gotten from my friend I eventually recovered to between 13.3-13.4 Volts, so Yes, this kit works as advertised.
Your notion of propane can be done but believe me, the fuel usage on propane is incredibly bad. Several persons of my acquaintance attempted running those and very quickly came to the conclusion that they simply couldn’t afford the fuel Bill’s for such in Alaska…where a refill of a 100lb cylinder is typically around $100…which don’t last long.
One additional point I need to make here is that if you DO lay out the cash for a diesel generator you’ll see fuel economy better than anything else hands down…but, you have to do maintainence on those like it’s a religion…ESPECIALLY, engine oil changes; no more than 125 hrs, period, ever.
There is a remarkable piece of kit that AMSOil sells which is their dual bypass remote filter systems coupling a full flow filter in tandem with a bypass filter on the same housing…these are amazing. I installed one on my HD 3500 Duramax and after 4 months of driving my oil was still transparent if you can believe that! Normally, I could barely go a week after oil change without that oil looking like pure crude. They sell a universal kit for which you’ll need to know the diameter and thread pitch of the protruding stem where your oil filter is normally installed so you can put this on damn near anything that supports a filter. We’ve since installed those on ALL of our diesel gems everywhere.
Lastly, go over and look up “540ratblog oil analysis” on Google search and look through the rankings of the oils listed there AND read the author’s background…likely, you’ll be a bit shocked at what you read there. Based on that EVERYTHING we have that is diesel is now running AMSOil 5w30 Series 3000…including our trucks which are running now flawlessly on that for 3+ years at this point.
Gotta head for a while , be well and at Peace Y’all…a Higher authority is at work as we speak, Halellujah.

Newest info on the cruise ship Diamond Princess indicates the crew had no training or clue on how to use protective gear or deal with a pandemic. While passengers were confined to staterooms, the crew roamed freely. Sick crew members were encouraged to work if symptoms were mild. There were no preventative measures to prevent the crew from spreading it to every passenger via food deliveries. After hearing what I heard in the last 24 hours, I have no doubt the infection rate on that ship is the direct result of a massive intersection of stupid. There was no experienced effort to contain the virus, no one even the ships doctor had a clue. This makes this cruise ship the absolute worst case scenario.
This said, there has been a lack of virus statistics updates in the US news for four days now. Its an unprecedented limitation on the press and free speech. Sounds like the silence before the storm. Watch for insiders in the know making that one last big trip to the stores, stocking up.
Howdy PTPO,
Yeah, the silence about new cases here stateside is DEAFENING, ain’t it? There can hardly be any reasonable doubt given the incredible porosity of US borders that CoViD-2019 is already on the ground here and running…it’s just a matter of time before even our hideously inept MSM will have to begin acknowledging swamped ER’s as that hits.
There is a tabulation making the rounds (I located it over at steemit) which indicates that one of the groups at risk here stateside is African Americans in the southeast…but that also indicated that the Anglo-Saxon population in Utah is at nearly the same level of risk.
However, neither of those groups has anywhere NEAR the ACE2 expression seen in and amongst people of Han Chinese derivation…or the entirety of the population of Japan, both of which are simply stratospheric relative to most other ethnicities.
That single observation may – MAY – account for the gargantuan response by the Chinese from which we might well infer that the incapacitation/loses there must be equally outsized. It remains over the next few weeks to see the numbers coming out of Japan inasmuch as their population has more adults in diapers than infants…the one specific group which appears distinctly susceptible to CoViD.
Be well…and safe old friend

interesting how the deeply unpopular article on politics has been deleted…
May I leave mod jail yet?
Plan twice, prep once, I wouldn’t blame the crew. The whole ‘cruise ship mentality’ is fatally flawed. Survival Rule #1 is ‘Avoid Crowds.
No government will tell us the whole truth about this virus. Brandon Smith stated that the following very clear. With a half BILLION people essentially under martial law and experiencing food and medical care shortages, and just-in-time delivery system failures growing exponentially, Preppers were right all along!
so am I out of mod jail yet???
The newest name of this coronavirus is SARS-CoV-2 according to Wikipedia. I wonder when the media will start admitting that this is a form of SARS, or are they just afraid of scaring people more?
why would that scare anyone? its well knows Severe Acute Respiratory Syndromes are coronaviruses. The first big SARS ourbreak was, as was MERS, etc. all “SARS” means is “very bad lung sickness” in laymans terms.
Where the hell is everyone? I enjoyed the articles as well as the community here. The most real threat where shit is going to hit the fan and only a couple people are still here. The gang needs to be back to share info before the net is impacted.
I’m still here.
Busy in the prepping dept.
A few things to catch up on as well as getting in half a cow.
Continue to prep your souls.
Howdy N-Rock,
I concur wholeheartedly, lately this place is feeling like some of the ‘Ghost Towns’ I’ve visited over time…I have high hopes that some of the old crew will pop up over the next few weeks; I just saw DurangoKidd and Odd Questioner posting a week so back, hopefully we’ll start seeing more.
